A Glimpse Into the Future

Standard

So while I am trying to get my life together her is a glimpse into what I am working on for some upcoming posts!

Bacon and Egg cups

Bacon and Egg cups

Bacon and Egg cups with a side of avocado. Delicious. Simple. Paleo.

Snuggle Flannel

Snuggle Flannel

Amazing patterns of snuggle fabric that was ON SALE and I HAD A COUPON! This is going to be the start of a flannel quilt because when I try something new I try something big and new…but exciting!

Paleo Banana Muffins

Paleo Banana Muffins

My littlest helper and I made Paleo Banana Muffins the other day. He eventually had to be given his own bowl with ingredients that weren’t really part of the recipe because he kept sampling and declaring “So Nummy! Mmmmmm!” And he was right…they are so nummy!

Homemade Lara Bars

Homemade Lara Bars

I cannot get enough of these Homemade Lara Bars a la Chocolate Covered Katie! All of her recipes are amazing! As always I have my own little twists when trying other people’s recipes, but simple and droolworthy!

ALSO, I am doing Thanksgiving this week 🙂 My dad is coming down to visit and we haven’t spent a holiday with family in 3 years so we decided to bump it up a few weeks. I had originally hoped to make it all Paleo, but that probably won’t be happening since my eldest has already requested (actually kind of demanded) my dinner rolls! Also, my dad thinks I am nuts with “this Paleo thing.” 😉

Well that is just a little taste of what is to come!! Please let me know what you think and If there are any crafts or recipes I should try!

BOOm!!! The time has come!

Standard

WELCOME!! This is my new blog Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated!

I blog about:

FOOD! I am living a mostly Paleo lifestyle these days some most recipes will be of that nature, but occasionally others will sneak in because we all deserve a cheat day or two.

CRAFTS! I have always been a crafter (scrapbooks, sorority crafts (Go Chi-O!), and the ever popular child’s tutu) but I am expanding! Over the past year I have been trying to teach myself to sew and I recently became obsessed with painting. I am also NOT scared of glitter…

COFFEE!!! And tea, but mostly coffee. 95% of the time I am drinking coffee or green tea. I have a Starbucks obsession to be honest.

I will probably throw in some other random posts (like about my work with Susan G Komen or how crazy my kiddos are) but I am going to try and keep focus 🙂

Feedback is always welcome, but hatred is not. Find another spot to be cranky other than my blog. Every mama deserves their therapy!

Thanks for coming,

Anne Marie

Halloween Crafts: Bat Bow

Standard
Adorable Bat Bow!! Super easy.

Adorable Bat Bow!! Super easy.

Isn’t this bow precious?? When I lived “up north” I never would have thought about putting my daughter in crazy or large bows…but when you move to the South you just have to. (It’s kind of like how I am freezing in my house and it is like 65 in here…seriously I am wearing a scarf!)

So anyway….in order to make this pretty little bow you first have to gather your simple materials.

My materials...don't mind the messy work station!

My materials…don’t mind the messy work station!

Today I used a piece of scrap fabric (maybe 2 in wide when folded over), coordinating thread, small foam bat from a Target craft kit, hairpin base, scissors, and glue gun. I wish I could give you better measurements on the piece of fabric I used, but I just grabbed some scrap. I will do better next time!

So the first thing you do is sew a pulling stitch. (Please keep in mind I am an uber beginner at sewing, so I don’t really know proper names of things…that’s why I use pictures!)

Make a pulling stitch.

Make a pulling stitch.

After you “sew” the entire piece of fabric pull on the thread so that the fabric starts to gather. This is going to let you give it some shape.

Complete the pulling stitch

After you have gathered the fabric mold it into a circle, or another shape if you feel adventurous! Once it is shaped sew it together so that it will not unravel. Mine is very sloppy…pardon 🙂

Seal the Circle

You will want to also sew where the 2 edges meet/overlap and then flatten your flower looking object. Use a regular stitch here.

Again, pardon the sloppyFlatten the flower

Next, put a small dollop of hot glue on the back of you bat (or any other shape you have chosen) and press it into the center of your flower.
He had it coming! I'm a lil off center

Mine came out a lil crooked, but I did that to help cover my imperfections in the fabric. After that is cooled cut a small piece of coordinating scrap felt and hot glue it to the bottom side of your flower. This will make attaching to the hair clip easier.

felt!

Lastly, dab a little hot glue on your hairpin and attach your flower…voila! A quick and simple Halloween hairbow!

Attached!TA DASend me pictures of your hair bows! I would love to see them 🙂 Happy Haunting!
